1. COMPANY

Where does the name Menaud come from?
The name “Menaud” pays tribute to Félix-Antoine Savard’s literary masterpiece Menaud, maître-draveur, published in 1937. Select spirits can be purchased online and delivered to select Canadian provinces. See our shop for details.
Who are our partners?
Grégoire Bluteau, Enrico Bouchard, Martin Brisson, and Gilles Brouard are the minds behind the company.
Where are Menaud spirits and beers crafted?
At our distillery and brewery:
1, rue de la Rivière
Clermont, Charlevoix (QC,CA)
G4A 1B5
Do you have a phone number where we can reach you?
We can only be reached by email at info@menaud.ca or via social media channels.
Are your ingredients locally sourced?
We continuously strive to introduce more Charlevoix ingredients into our spirits, crafting them around the availability of local botanicals. We can proudly say that most of our aromatics come from Charlevoix, if not elsewhere in Quebec.
When it comes to our beers, the sourcing of base ingredients depends on their nature and availability. Regional or Quebec-sourced inputs are always prioritized, whenever available. As for the aromatics, they are generally gathered within just a few kilometers of our doorstep.

2. DISTILLERY AND BREWERY

Is on-site tasting available?
Absolutely! Our indoor space and (seasonal) patio are open for you to enjoy our spirits and beers. We also offer customizable tasting flights based on your preferences.
Do we need a reservation for on-site tasting?
Please note that we do not take reservations, regardless of group size. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is it possible to book the space for a private event?
Private bookings are available under certain conditions. Please write to info@menaud.ca for more details.
Can we purchase products on-site?
All of our products, along with a few exclusives, are available for purchase directly at our distillery and brewery.
Are guided tours of your production facilities available?
While we don't offer public guided tours, you can always enjoy our spirits and beers on-site at the bar or on the patio, or pick up your favorite products to go.
Is food available on-site?
During the summer season, we offer a ready-to-eat menu featuring local regional products: spreads, pickled vegetables, chips, charcuterie, and mixed nuts. Please note that our food offerings may be slightly more limited during the winter season.
Are children welcome on-site?
Children are more than welcome to join you.
Are dogs allowed on-site?
Dogs are welcome on the patio, but are not allowed indoors.
What is unique about your stills?
Our stills are shaped like our signature bottle. Designed by Olivier Raymond, they were custom-built on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

3. SPIRITS AND BEERS

Where do you source your grains from?
For our spirits, we source all of our grains from the Harvey family on Isle-aux-Coudres. For our beers, we work with a variety of suppliers, prioritizing local sources whenever possible.
Do you sell your neutral grain spirit to other Quebec distilleries?
Currently, our neutral spirit supply is only enough for our own spirits production. Given the limited quantities, we are unable to sell to other distilleries for the time being.
What is the best way to enjoy your spirits?
We suggest trying them neat or on the rocks to start. From there, you can dilute them with a splash of sparkling water. We have also developed a collection of cocktail recipes, available on our website.
How should I store your spirits?
We recommend storing the bottles in a cool, dark room so the flavor doesn't degrade over time. That said, given the design of our bottles, feel free to display them wherever you like, just avoid direct sunlight.
Do your spirits or beers contain gluten or lactose?
All of our beers contain gluten, and some contain lactose. None of our spirits contain gluten or lactose. However, because the grains are milled in the same facility where our beers are grafted, we cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contamination. If you would like to know more, please check the ingredient list on each product page.
Is it possible to purchase a keg of beer?
You can purchase a keg of your favorite beer on-site. A deposit will be required at the time of purchase.
Can I sponsor a Menaud Whisky barrel?
Absolutely! Please write to info@menaud.ca for full details on our cask society.
Are sediments normal in your beers and spirits?
Puisque la fabrication de nos bières et spiritueux repose sur des ingrédients bruts (grains, fruits, levures), un léger dépôt peut se former au fond. Chez Menaud, nous aimons les sédiments ; c’est tout à fait naturel.
How can I stay up to date on new Menaud projects?
Sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of the page to get the latest on our new projects and product launches. Plus, follow along on Instagram and Facebook for product restocks, events, and more.
Which products are available exclusively on-site?
Our Absinthe is an exclusive spirit available only at our distillery in Charlevoix. Additionally, certain products that are produced in more limited quantities throughout the year, and can be harder to find at the SAQ, are available almost anytime directly at Menaud. This includes our Maria gin, Génépi, and Vermouth. As for our beers, new releases are always offered first on-site before being distributed across Quebec.
Do you offer corporate gifts?
Yes, absolutely. Please contact us at info@menaud.ca for more information.

6. SUSTAINABILITY

What are Menaud's sustainability initiatives?
Spirits and beer production generates by-products. We therefore aim to upcycle as much of our biological production waste as possible. For instance, our spent grain is collected by local Charlevoix farmers, while our gin botanicals are dehydrated to create a culinary spice blend.
We strive to minimize packaging made from non-renewable resources, such as plastic. The cardboard boxes we use for packaging are generally made from recycled materials and sourced locally.
Are bottles and cans recyclable? Can we return them for a deposit?
All beer bottles and cans are eligible for a deposit refund. Spirits bottles cannot be returned for a deposit; however, they can be recycled or repurposed as vases or water bottles.
